Holiday Inn Express Long Island City E – New York, an IHG Hotel

We have a booking for middle of may, but the hotel is opening in june, we did not get a notification and the hotel is not reachable. Also IHG tried to reach them, was also not working. So i dont have a hotel now for our Holiday starting May 14th

As of April 2024, this location is not open yet. I had a reservation through IHG prepaid on points. IHG seemed unaware that the location was still closed, the customer service person on the phone asked if there was some part of the hotel that I could sleep in -- no way, they don't even have permits to be open yet. The manager, Susanna went above and beyond to get us into another hotel for our reservation. Really appreciated.

I would give zero stars if I could. We had confirmed reservations for May 1-7, 2024 and even received welcome emails a few days before our stay was supposed to begin. However, when we arrived at the hotel, it was still under construction and not open to the public. We spent 2 hours, literally sitting on the street corner, on the phone with IHG trying to get a place to stay, as we were traveling from 5 states away and could not just turn around and go home. They tried to put us in a hotel that was not comparable to what we reserved...either it was a location that was further away from the city or it did not include breakfast. Both of these factors were a crucial part in our budget planning. IHG said they could not do anything and they were unable to reach the manager of this location, as the number was not in service yet. We ended up having to pay 3 times the price to stay at another Holiday Inn Express and have yet to be reimbursed for the price difference. As for the time we wasted and headaches we received from dealing with this every day for almost a week, we were told "sorry" and "we understand" by IHG.
