OBSCENE DISORDER I defended the NYC subway system for years. Sure its dirty, smelly and often scary, but it connects 3 islands and a peninsula with an average of 2.4 million daily riders. Yet on March 11th 2023, even I could not defend the obscene disorder my friends and I witnessed on our trip from Williamsburg to MSG. Upon transferring trains at 3rd Ave, utter chaos broke out. Like something a from a science fiction movie, the red lines (1,2.3) simply disappeared. There were no updated signs, so we resorted to using an app. We walked all around the subway station, and ultimately talked decided to take an alternative train to our destination. After walking back to platform that we originally arrived at, we saw some nonsensical 8 x 11 sign that read something to the effect of temporary closure. The irony is that we still beat our other friends (who took an uber) to the Garden. So ultimately it was cheaper and faster than taking an uber. However, life is short and what price can you put on your sanity? . $2.75
