Oyamada

The food here is so good! I got the salmon mayo roll and an onigiri. Ill be coming back. For those who pick up, they are located inside of Laut. Ask for Oyamada from the front desk and the lovely shop owner will come out to greet you.

Yay! OYAMADA ONIGIRI started delivery service!! Their Onigiris are soooo delicious, it reminds me of home! And now I can finally get my weekly dose of vegan Cali Oyamada and Yukari with Avocado . I also recommend everyone to try their Seaweed cream cheese too!

NYC is all about exploring, so discovering classic Japanese comfort eats with a modern twist at Oyamada was quite a delight. recently, i was running errands in the Flatiron District and needed a light dinner before crossing off more things off my to-do list and i remembered a friend recommended the Oyamada. currently, Oyamada is strictly pickup or delivery via GrubHub/DoorDash/Seamless. food can only be ordered via apps. there is no in-dining option or pay in-person option. this worked perfectly for me bc i wanted to do takeout and eat al fresco (outside). what i ordered: Vegan curry sushi rolls AND the matcha cheese cake. Vegan curry sushi rolls are a tasty combination of Tempeh, carrots, curry, turmeric, sushi rice and more. the curry is full of flavor without being spicy or overpowering, it has a hint of sweetness. the veggies and other ingredients come together nicely. the sushi rolls are filling without being heavy. there is also a small container of onion chips for additional flavor and texture. 8 pieces come in an order and are perfect size for dinner or to share for two as a snack/appetizer. the matcha cream cheesecake is so good. this dessert has a nice balance between the sweetness and the matcha--so it's not too sweet or too strong of a matcha flavor. cheesecake is all about texture and denseness--and this slice did both well. each bite was smooth and creamy as cheesecake should be. the cheesecake comes with a small container of arare (tiny cracker balls) that added crunch and texture with each spoonful of cheesecake. one thing i appreciated was each dish was neatly and tightly packed into a separate container, so the food travels well via pickup or delivery. it's a thoughtful gesture as it's clear that they want the food to look as good as if you were dining in a restaurant. the menu has variety from bentos to onigiri to non-vegan sushi rolls to veggie sides but it is concise. if you are looking for foods that fill you up, taste great, and are relatively healthful then Oyamada is for you!
