In February of 2024, I've contacted the CPA's office to request a consultation for an issue with my withholdings from a part time job along with my new york state retirement. The original contact on the phone on our discussion to make an appointment I was advised it should take approximately thirty minutes for this consultation. My appointment lasted almost 1 hour and I was charge $360. The only information I received is during this meeting was to change my status to "married, filing separately". I already had an extra withholding of $50 set on my W4. That information was given me from somebody from H&R Block for a consultation I had with them regarding this same issue which cost me approximately $50 for an hour's time. For an hour-long meeting looking through all my paperwork I supplied and paying $360 you would think I would have had a better answer with what I could do to change and correct my withholding status. Needless to say this change had no increase in my withholdings. I do not recommend this CPA.

I went thriugh a lot of material with this person and analyzed his whole situation. He had lots of questions about withholdings and expressed that he had been short of withholdings for years. I went through a lengthy process of explaining how he and his husband were underwithholding regarding their multiple soueces of income and why the withholding was shortHe explained he had been trying to get answers from many people but was not successful. When he left my office he appeared pleased that now he understood the process and stated that to me.
