America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

I had an appointment for an exam tonight at the nisky location, they were fabulous. From the person at the front desk to the gentlemen who unfortunately puffed air into my eyeballs to the doctor (who was really super personable and nice) and to the gentlemen that helped me choose my glasses and did the check out process - all around fantastic people and great experience. Ive been to another Americas best location that was terrible, so todays experience with the people at Niskayuna Americas Best was refreshing. Thank you all!

I wish there was an option for zero stars. What a nightmare at this place. As a 10 year customer, I will never go back to AB...especially Niskayuna. In pre testing, the unskilled person puffed my eyes more than 8 times each with the tonometer. He had no idea what he was doing. When I went in to see Dr. Giovannone, she was nasty. Right off the bat questioned why I was in sooner than the 12 month mark. She seemed so bothered by this fact even though I have insurance which allows me new glasses and exam each year, not ever 12 months. She proceeded to insult me about my current glasses which are a "Presidential" lined bifocal, stating "I don't know why you even got those, they have been out of style for years." She rushed the entire exam. Here is where it gets crazy though. She never performed a refraction test. She also never did a retinoscopy test yet wrote me a new prescription. I spoke with the VP of operations about this and to this date, no one can explain to me how this was allowed to happen. I also spoke to the local DM who again, could not explain how this is possible yet they billed my insurance company for a full exam. A day after this mess, I went to a local, independent optometrist who did a FULL and EXTENSIVE exam....you know...the one that I was supposed to get at AB. Low and behold, my script hasn't change one bit even though AB wrote me a new script for a different lens at the cost of $49 for the lenses. I'll take my loss and learn a lesson. NEVER again will I go to America's Best. They are America's Worst and I will be filing a formal complaint about this Dr. with the board of professions in NY.

Great price staff friendly and attentive to the customer. had the glasses for about a year and have lost two screws, walked in both times greeted by a staff member and was promptly seen and screws were replaced at no charge. Highly recommend the Schenectady store.

This was the best eye exam I have had in years! Dr. Giovannone, was beyond thorough. In addition to a dialation of my eyes, she asked many health questions. She took her time and I never felt rushed! I also received excellent help in choosing my new frames. I can't wait to get my new glasses!!!
