We had a wonderful stay at this cozy, charming, unique inn! The best bed and breakfast experience we could have hoped for! The inn is decorated in a combination of a comfy, inviting style and lots of intellectual, artistic and historical touches. Not a boring corporate stay by any means! John was a wonderful host, as engaging and helpful as possible, yet very respectful of guests privacy. His french toast (grandmas recipe) at breakfast was delicious and his hospitality was the warm hug we needed on our long road trip! The rooms are well appointed, with modern bathroom fixtures (and great water pressure), reading chairs (and plenty of interesting books). Quiet, relaxing, safe and warm. Its the sort of place you love to come to and hate to leave. We loved our stay and shall definitely return. Thank you, John! Barry & Anna

....ditto to everything below. John is a gem (as is the inn). My husband and I made last minute plans to drive out from MA to visit Howe Caverns, and decided to make an Overnight of it and hang out in Troy for the night & have a good meal. Staying at the Gardner Farm Inn was the highlight of our time away, and we're looking forward to planning for the next occasion to visit when Troy will be a Destination and not a Drive-by. We enjoyed our conversations with John and appreciated his recommendations, and while our interactions were a high point of our stay, I intuit that he would give any guest the amount of attention & interaction that felt comfortable for them. (Throwing this in because we were feeling chatty, but know not everyone is looking for that experience!). The room (Mae West) & bed was very comfortable, the bathtub (& provided bath milk) was divine, and breakfast was great! Thanks John (& Margaret & Nigel) for a great stay!

BLUF: One of a kind destination with a wonderful host, located close to anything and everything you might want to visit in the region. My wife and I stayed at the Gardner Farm Inn for a weekend to explore Albany and its surrounding areas. We arrived at the quaint inn to be greeted in the parking area by John, who was quick to check us in, introduce us to his very cute, well behaved dogs, and show us to our room and the amenities of his place. The highlight for us was the very grand bathroom with a tub perfect for soaking. John was quick to recommend local places to eat when asked, and even a few local trails and attractions for us to visit - all of which we followed through with and enjoyed. The location itself is a 5 min drive or 30 min walk to downtown Troy, which has a decent selection of shopping and eating, provided it is not a Monday or Tuesday. John made a delicious breakfast for us both mornings of our stay at a negotiable hour (who wants to wake up early on vacation?). The inn itself is clean, warm, and welcoming. John's inn became a part of our vacation rather than just a forgettable pit stop as most hotels/motels are. Overall highly recommended.

Cannot say enough good things about this place and the HOST! To start, John greeted us warmly and took our bags and helped us to our room. Then he gave us recommendations for us to check out in town. We wandered around Troy (a hidden gem of a town) before coming back to the Inn to get some more feedback on where to go for dinner. John told us about 3 spots, we checked out all THREE! We came back and John gave us some wine glasses for our nightcap. Finally, the next morning he made French toast and coffee for all the guests and we sat around the table laughing and telling stories. We could not have asked for a better host and have already begun planning our return to the area with the intent of flying into and out of Albany! Really love this place and this wonderful wonderful host. 10/10.
