This review is for Thompson Park Living here was fine. No bells and whistles. Some of the apartments are updated and some are not. However, the real issue was having to threaten legal action to get my deposit back. I moved out on 9/29 and by law, my deposit check was to be returned within 14 days. Unfortunately, I had to threaten legal action in order to get my deposit check back. It was only after I threatened legal action that I got any response regarding my deposit check. I still have not received it.

I lived there for 5 years & honestly other than maintenance not fixing things it was alright. I made do. However, then major issues such as leaks, plumbing, electrical issues started happened and nobody would want to fix them. I had MASSIVE amounts of mold growing in my garage because the dryer ventilation system is, it goes over the garage. Roof was leaking, dryer vent was clogged, mold. For months nothing got done. Thank god I get section 8 who eventually got me out of there due to failed attempts of getting things fixed. They tell you they bill you for water/sewer by usage of each unit which is ANOTHER lie. The city bills them per building & they have no way of telling what each unit uses. They also add money to it as well because before I moved I checked & the building I was in was only charged $400 for 3 months. Divide that by 3 & then by 4 for each unit & thats what it should be a month. They also recently started charging for trash which was in the lease. Everything has went down hill over the past year and a half. Get out while you can.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! This is going to be a lengthy review. I lived here for over 5 years. When I first moved in, I was a college student and a stay-at-home mom. I had assistance through HUD, so I lived in an "affordable" unit. That was a nice way of them saying less than, because the unit was subpar. The windows were old and metal. They were drafty and moist, and it didn't take long before the black mold started showing through the paint they used to cover it up before I moved in. Maintenance did not fix things unless I happened to address them personally when I would see them around the complex. The work orders the office encourages people to make will not only not get fulfilled, but they will lie and say they work order is completed when it is not. We lived in a ground floor garden apartment and one of the bathrooms was damaged by flooding from a chronically overflowing toilet above us. They had to cut the ceiling open to get the water out of it. The damage was extensive and the ceiling was literally breaking. Both bathroom floors had water damage under the flooring prior to me moving in. There was black mold in both bathrooms which was covered by maintenance with "special" paint. I have pictures and videos that prove that the mold grew around the paint. The office told me if the mold persisted to contact them. I did. Several times in the five plus years I lived there. Nothing was done to remove the mold. The carpets were literally unraveled at the seams within the first year (at most) of us living there. In September of 2023, a friend moved in to the complex after telling the office I had referred her. The lady in the office at the time told my friend that I would be getting $1,000 for referring her. My friend's HUD worker abandoned his position and her rent (to no fault of her own) was not paid until mid-December. The office people told me that was the reason for the delay in my referral check. After her rent was paid, they still did not send the check. At one point, they went as far as lying and saying I was not a resident according to their records because their staff lost my paperwork (as they had many times over the years). They have a hard time keeping employees. After I sent proof that their employee had signed a HUD document that proved I was, in fact, a resident, they tried to say they couldn't send me the check because their employee had not documented that my friend told her I had referred her to move in. So, I sent an email with a screeshot of the conversation between my friend and myself dated September 3, 2023, in which she had initially told me about her interview with the employee at Parkstead, when she told her about the referral and the worker informed her that I would be getting the $1,000. I have documented proof of all of this, and they STILL have not issued my check as of last week. I have been trying not to take legal action. I was overcharged for water more than once. They refused to fix their accounting errors even after I brought It to their attention. The staff was short with me and dismissive. I moved out and into a new place on March 1, 2024. They still owe me money. Any damages are wear and tear and/or negligence on their part. There has been no mention of my security deposit being returned to me, even in part. I have tried to avoid taking legal action, but this has gone too far for far too long! I just want what is owed me, which I said every time I had to physically show up at the office because they either did not answer the phone or return my calls, or they cut me off on the phone. I wanted to be in good standing. They refused to fix anything. They refused to hold themselves accountable. And before they comment under my post suggesting I contact Stacey, I have tried. Several times. I have called and left messages requesting return calls and even requesing meetings with her. No response. I have requested several times to sit with the person who handles the accounting (I am an accountant) to resolve the fraudulent charges to my account. That was refused.
