**Update they reached out to me asked me for the address to send the check too and still never sent it lol smh Never received my application fee back, called multiple times and just received the run around since November. For all that should just say application fees are non refundable why waste people's time. Judging by reviews I think I dodged the bullet lol

Van Alen had a resident event egg hunt today and it was so fun to look around all the amenities and see other residents doing the same! Happened on a beautiful day too, so it was awesome to see everyone out and about.

I will start with the one positive at Van Alen which is maintenance being absolutely amazing. Now where to begin. Ive lived at Van Alen for 2 years, the first year was good and an easy renewal because rent was only raised $20. This last year at VA has been disgraceful with trying to raise rent $300 ($2,000 for a 1b1b). They emailed me an offer to not raise rent then retracted the email not even a hour later. Theres huge favoritism from office staff. They allow certain residents to get guest parking passes and will out right reject others. Some residents didnt get their rent raised, but had to sign a NDA. Garage doors are constantly broken and P1 floods every time it rains. Youre lucky if your key fob opens doors. Other times gates are broken or will stay open for anyone to enter (some security). Every door entrance smells of urine from pets. Ive had multiple cockroaches in my apartment with office staff trying to argue that theyre water bugs (same thing as a cockroach). I felt like I was in college with the fire alarms constantly being pulled/set off throughout the whole complex. New management has been AWFUL. Very fine heavy. Youre only allowed 2 guest and have to have approval for any addition guest or you get a $500 fine? Have valet trash but have so many rules and risks of fines. Grills usually dont work or are difficult to start. The list goes on and on and on. So disappointing. No wonder half the complex is empty
