Fatima African Hair Braiding - Authentic African Braiding Hair Center in Durham NC

My experience was not the best here for multiple reasons: 1) I tell the nearly bald-headed dark-skin lady I am tender-headed as she combs my hair somewhat harshly from the root. I am trying to grow my hair, so I prefer to avoid damage. She continues to comb from the root, and tells me instead to comb my hair. Lack of customer service is present. 2) I sent videos multiple times to Fatima, declaring the style I want. She says she has the hair at the salon and will do it. I arrive and realize she does not have the hair as requested, but the same lady who combed my hair says she will do it as Fatima leaves the shop before I arrive. I ask repeatedly, as I notice and begin to worry if it will turn out as I expect, "Will it [my hair] look exactly as in this video?" She and another stylist say yes. I do my hair, and it does not turn out as I expect because they did not have the deep wave hair Fatima previously stated was available. Lack of professionalism and overall service becomes clear here. 3) Showing disappointment in my unhappy hair, they request $200.00 for the hair. As a young student, I do not have much money, but they request this anyway for a style I did not receive. The same bald-headed dark-skin lady asks me to "dash her $10" and wanted me to pay before I even saw my hair. Another lady lies to me, telling me that my hair is still wet from the boiled water and will eventually relax into the style I requested (???). However, because I don't need additional stress, I paid the $200 (ignoring the other request) and left as I have school the upcoming Monday. As someone coming from Atlanta where I usually do my hair, I find the gap in overall quality obvious. I will not do my hair again here because some of these workers are clearly greedy and place money before customer satisfaction. Do not say you can do it if you can't.

The staff, Fatima and her spouse are very sweet people. The lady who did my son's braids was very patient .
