Changing tides review At 35 I found myself staying in a motel with all of my belongings, in a sort of limbo- not wanting to live, not wanting to die, and severely dependent on chemicals. I had burned just about every bridge possible, and was just about out of grace from my family, but they were willing to help me get into one last treatment center. I chose changing tides because I had heard good things about it from a friend. (Being close to the beach and being able to keep my phone were also reasons). When I first got to changing tides, clients told me that they give you enough rope to hang yourself. And there was an occasion or two where I was tempted, but I knew how much was at stake and was not going to give in that easily. During my stay, I was able to go for walks on the beach between groups to reflect and clear my head. I met once a week with my therapist, Brett, who is an absolute expert in his field. He has the educational degrees, but more importantly has lived the struggle of alcohol and drug addiction. I have talked to countless therapists and counselors in my lifetime, and I learned more about myself thru my sessions with Brett than all of them combined. The group sessions are intense at first, but force you and your peers to interact and become vulnerable, and I ended up forming bonds with people I never thought possible. When my two terms ended, I was nervous to leave, but the transition was easier than I thought it would be. I took their suggestions, and did 90 meetings in 90 days. I found an AA group that I liked and made it my homegroup and I treat it the same way I treated group at changing tides. Prior to treatment I never felt comfortable in AA, but today I can truly say that Im a proud member of AA and I look forward to meetings. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Brett, Aubrey, and the staff at changing tides- they literally saved my life!!

This place changed my life. If you or someone you love needs a place to go and figure their struggles out, this is the place. Everything from the staff, the location, and the people you will meet while there is exactly what I needed in a time where I had no idea what I needed. I tell people all the time about CT and my 2 months there. I learned the tools I needed to use when I returned to my life and I am so thankful for this place each and everyday.

I have been battling mental health issues most of my life and a serious addiction to opiates. I spent months in search of a place that I felt would give me the best chance at success. I stumbled upon Changing Tides and reluctantly called because at this point every other rehab I had talked to was not very welcoming but I could immediately tell from the first conversation that this place was different, the person on the other end of the phone(Aubrey) genuinely seemed to care and wanted to help. From the day I checked in all the staff was very supportive and focused on assisting me on this journey of getting my life back. One staff member in particular helped me more than I ever could have imagined. I was a client of Angel Barrino and without her I wouldn't be here today. When she took me on as a client she never made me feel like a patient; she made it her personal mission to give me the best treatment possible to address both my mental health issues and my substance abuse issues. As I sit here typing this, I am 1 year 5 months and 14 days clean and Angel was a major part of my recovery journey when I was in treatment. I am forever thankful for Angel and all of the staff at Changing Tides.
