When we moved from Connecticut to North Carolina, we met with a local attorney to update our wills and advanced directives to meet the NC legal requirements. A few years later we attended a seminar by Helayne. After listening to her explanation, it became apparent that we needed a much more in-depth plan to secure our assets as we age. We scheduled a first meeting with her and her staff to learn more about what she could offer. We found her exceptionally well versed in her speciality of elder care planning, something we had never heard of before the seminar. She explained everything in language that we as non-attorneys could understand. And outlined a plan specifically tailored for our circumstances. As we worked through the process with her she made sure we understood what was needed, and worked with us to fine-tune the details. She even helped schedule zoom meetings with our financial advisor to assure everything was titled into the trust correctly. We appreciated her patience throughout the process as she made sure, that we understood exactly how the trust would work as our situation would change in the future. In the end, we felt that we had the best plan for our particular situation. Since each of the individuals listed as our trustees are geographically all around the country, she scheduled a zoom meeting to bring them all up to date with the details of the trust. As the name of her practice, A Practice with Purpose, says, we take that to mean the purpose is to put us at ease with all the end of life decisions that need to be made in order for things to go smoothly for our children when we die or are incapacitated. She listens deeply and gets to know the family dynamics. In our opinion this a rare and admirable approach to making some very difficult and legally important decisions. Therefore we highly recommend her as you come to this time in your life.

We procrastinated for years about what to do with will and estate plans. After looking online and doing research with friends, family and business associates, we were still unsure on how to proceed. We found Helayne on Facebook through a webinar her practice offered that gave us the basics of estate planning. We immediately knew that Helayne was the person we wanted to work on with. This is a difficult process and requires a commitment of time and serious thought. Helayne and her team held our hand thru the entire process insuring that we took into account all possible scenarios and outcomes. Her expertise, compassion and common sense made the process as smooth as it could be. We couldn't be happier.

Everyone on the "team" from Shallotte, Helayne, Michael, Casey and Candace, made the entire estate planning experience simple and easy. They took the time to explain each step in the process in ways we could understand and relate to, and then did the same with our family. We can now sleep at night knowing that everything we've worked our entire lives for will be protected and safe.

Just wanted to say how pleased we were when, after moving to North Carolina and needing to get our powers of attorney documents and estate plans up to date, we had the pleasure of working with Elder Law & Life Care Planning Center. Helayne, with her team Lillie and Kristin, were instrumental in not only making the process smooth and timely, but informed us of all possible options that could be available to us as it relates to our own personal situations for asset protection. This allowed us to determine what risks we may be exposed to now and in the future and where different trusts might be applicable. The team also took the time to explain how the power of attorney would work with our dependents, and, as important, held a conference call with our dependents explaining this process should any of our estate plans come into fruition. We are much more comfortable now and know we can count on Helayne and the team should things change for us in the future. With much thanks! Bob and Barb

Our estate planning took an intense sense of urgency after a recent death in the family. We realized our own planning was essential to protect our assets and to prepare our children. After an initial, thought-provoking consultation with Helayne Levy Payne (no relation) we immediately decided to move forward with Elder Law and Life Care Planning. The strategic planning and execution proved to very arduous because of the Helaynes professional, caring, detailed and very personalized approach to our unique considerations. Was it fun? No! But the end result is our estate is prepared for the inevitable. Therefore, our family will not have to confront the challenges without preparation. We strongly recommend estate planning with Elder Law and Life Care Planning. Henry and Kathy Payne
