Heron's Nest

Herons Nest is a beautiful neighborhood. The homes are eco and have solar panels. The neighborhood is easily walkable and the neighbors are friendly.

My husband and I have wanted a coastal vacation home for years and looked and looked. We randomly drove by Herons Nest one day and the colorful cottages caught our eye! We had a very prompt and informative meeting with the developer and our home was started at the height of COVID and was completed in a timely manner! The finishes are so nice and very unlike the homes that are thrown up in a couple months. We had a great experience with the developer and the builder was top notch! There are so many features that are extras with other builders that are included in the listed price of these homes; crown mouldings, solar panels, irrigation system, smart thermostat, Kinectico water filtration system, and interior paint color of your choice (not builder beige). In regards to another reviewers comment about painting inside, the interior colors have never been dictated by HOA. The EXTERIOR color of the home has some color restrictions based on the color of your immediate neighbors homes. At the selections meeting, home buyers are given a multitude of options for exterior paint. We appreciate the HOAs concern to protect the value of the community! HOA dues the VERY reasonable and a small pool is in the works soon! We have met almost all of our neighbors and the Nest definitely gives us a happy vibe! We are so thankful we found this little environmentally friendly community and look forward to spending as much time as possible there!

My family has vacationed in the OIB for over 40 years and have dreamed of owning a home in the area. When Heron's Nest began to be developed, we knew we could trust the builder. He listened to what we wanted in our home and worked hard to give us what we need and what we would enjoy. We have owned our home in Heron's Nest for almost 4 years and have made many wonderful memories with our family & friends and anticipate more to come. The HOA that is in place is very important in maintaining the appearance of the neighborhood and the value of our home. We have lived with HOA's in place in the past and the HN HOA goes hand in hand with those of well-maintained neighborhoods across the south. We have also made great friends in the quaint, beach cottage neighborhood. We are truly blessed!

What a great neighborhood! Friendly neighbors, centrally located - halfway between Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, minutes from OIB and love the small hometown feel of Shallotte. We have enjoyed our home!

As a home owner in Herons Nest, I am thrilled with my home. Being a retired Construction Manager, I am very pleased with the quality of construction, the materials and finishes are top notch. I found the developer to be very conscientiousness and easy to work with. I have been pleasantly surprised about the savings to the electric bill due to the solar and the vast majority of our neighbors have been very friendly and welcoming. My wife and I love our new community !!!
