Rented a property 11 months in advance in OBX for our annual vacation. ONE day before check in, Resort Realty called to say that the property was under construction and that they just found out that it wouldnt be ready for us to stay. They offered us what they considered a comparable property and while the house was nice, it wasnt directly on the beach or even in the same town. There was a sliver of a view of the water, but if I said it was extremely disappointing, Id be understating the situation. No accountability or compensation for us was offered just the excuse that construction companies are difficult. As a project manager, there is ZERO chance they found out the day before that it wasnt ready. Went by the original rental three times this week - no construction workers or activity at the house. New property had a pool which we paid $600 plus tax to heat. Pool heater not working from Saturday (check in) forward. Pool vendor visited on THURSDAY and said there was no chance the small heater would heat the water this time of year. So far, have called four times to get the $600 refunded and today was told there is a process to getting the refund and the manager was out all week. I will NEVER rent from this realty company again and will actively avoid all properties managed by them. See picture for comparable to direct oceanfront.

Resort Realty is leasing out homes that are physically unsafe for families. Carols Soundfront Castle, specifically is filled with cat urine spray and ammonia to the point of being harmful to any residents. My family had to move 2.5 days into our vacation, and pay full price for another home, because this property lost a/c on day one and smelled entirely of cat urine spray it was so bad the manager of resort realty said to me I wouldnt stay there. We were refunded approximately 900 of our 4000$ paid. We had to relocate almost an hour away 2.5 days into our trip, therefore changing our entire plans and itinerary. We were told buy spray or candles. The neighbor of the property told us its the cat piss house and the first a/c repairman wouldnt come inside because it smelled so bad. This home should not be leased and needs completely renovated before its age. If you have children or pets stay away. 2 of my 5 family members been sick since we got back over a week now with respiratory issues.

Ask to walk thru the house before you pay a deposit is all I can suggest. Not responsive to concerns or complaints. Just rude people overall
