Buffalo Tavern

Steve and Susan made us feel welcome and cooked up an incredible breakfast. Snacks, drinks, coffee and homemade cookies are in the parlor, which was also a great spot to chat with the other guests. Rooms are clean, linens are great and the internet was fast and reliable. Remember this is a hundreds of years old historic home. So it's not a Marriott and has some quirks but that just adds to the experience and the charm. Be sure to call and get better directions before you arrive as your GPS is going to do you wrong, really wrong. LOL Just a short drive to downtown West Jefferson. Highly recommend. Sorry but I was the one that ate all the cookies!

I really enjoyed this B&B as opposed to staying at a local hotel. It is located outside of West Jefferson but just a couple of miles. Very easy to get to the town. Owners are extremely nice and accommodating to your needs. Rooms: Very quaint with attention to details. Bed was very comfortable. Safety: Felt very safe at the B&B. This was important because it us located away from town in a rural area which provides peace and quiet! Had a code to enter front door. Owners live onsite. Food & drinks: Breakfast was delicious! Blueberry casserole, cheese grits and sausage. Coffee was available 45 minutes before breakfast. Sat on the spacious front porch with coffee and quietness. Drinks and snacks were always available in the parlor.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend and it was wonderful! The hosts were accommodating when we had to arrive a bit outside of the check-in window. The breakfast was delicious and Steve and Susan were so incredibly kind. We will definitely stay here again! Also - easy drive to West Jefferson.

I dont know theres just something about this stay that really made me uncomfortable. The AC in the room is very loud, the bed super uncomfortable, the blinds do not block out the light, the TV was small like maybe 12 x 16 small, the decor doesnt make sense, theres no desk in the room, no dressers and no closets and the Wi-Fi dropped out. I really wanted to make it work, but after two days, I asked to leave and was told that I would only get a partial refund. The best part of the house was the dining room, which was only available at 8:30 AM which is when breakfast was served which was quite nice. Actually, I had to sit on the couch and work from my laptop from a coffee table I just couldnt understand why the dining room area wasnt open to guests. There was just no way I was going to be comfortable staying at this property for five days and it just baffles me at the rates charged these days that we have to accept inferior accommodations. I know they get a lot of good ratings, and I was even more baffled at how kind they said the owners were but all we ever got was a good morning, no conversation at all and our gut feeling is because we are a gay couple
