We have been using H&R Block for over 13 years - -however, the last 10 years have been exceptional and filled with multiple tax concerns, questions and situations that have required superior knowledge, insight and patience. We were really lucky to have stumbled upon the H&R Block Tax Pro Cheri, when we lived in NC. She was always at the ready with information, insight and direction on how to make our tax filing seamless and care free. She supported us through multiple military moves, state to state and even when stationed oversees. Cheri and H&R Block are our go to for all tax related services and annual filings. We take comfort with them and feel secure with their programs, website tools and virtual service abilities!

I was very happy with Cheri, who did my taxes today. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and made it a very painless process.

I made an appointment at this H&R Block location in order to ask questions and get answers from a tax professional, and to finally file my taxes professionally--without any doubt. I can assure you, I felt my experience was anything but professional. TL;DR....just use TurboTax. They have a new AI feature that will explain ANY question you have in an easy to understand way and you won't have to get shamed by a tax expert in the process. I debated even leaving a review, but I can't stop thinking about the service I received, and I don't want this to happen to someone else. I felt apprehensive to stray from my usual "anonymous" method of filing my taxes (using TurboTax), because I didn't want to feel embarrassed about my lack of knowledge when it comes to taxes. I arrived to my appointment and met with Cheri, who greeted me upon arrival, and walked me back to the cubicle for us to get started. She asked the expected questions: first time at H&R Block, how/where do I usually file, and what brings me in today. Once I explained my questions and what brought me in, I felt I was met with a form of non-verbal ridicule. It wasn't what she said, but how she said it. Her facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice conveyed annoyance as well as belittlement because I had questions about my taxes. I felt ashamed and embarrassed. I don't expect anyone to roll out the red carpet for me, but I do expect to be treated with professionalism and respect when I pay for a service. Once Cheri discovered I had a 1099-B (or multiple? I still don't know.) she shared that it would be an additional cost. Due to my lack of understanding, I was surprised by this, but I was even more shocked by her reaction. Suddenly, it felt as if I was imposing on her by bringing her extra work because suddenly my "basic" tax filing was now "complex" (the actual title of the appointment I believe.) I found myself apologizing, not only because I didn't know about this difference, but because her tone of voice, body language and other non-verbal cues were dripping in resentment and frustration. Again, it isn't WHAT she said, but HOW she said it. Ultimately, I shared I wouldn't be able to afford this change and I excused myself. After going home and shaking off the shock of how poorly I felt, I logged into TurboTax. They have a new AI feature that was able to point out and answer ALL of my questions in a simple and easy to understand format. At the end, when it gives you the option to pay now or with your refund, I realized I could have afforded to pay H&R Block with my refund if I needed to. I am sure they offer that option. If Cheri had been helpful, kind, and empathetic, I would have paid the $300+ but instead, I paid less than $100 to have all my questions answered and receive my refund. Without being made to feel bad about not knowing a lot about taxes.
