FINALLY we found in Patrick McDonald not only a loan officer who actually KNEW the products available - ALL of them, but one who also wasn't afraid to use them. With the market (sellers' market) and interest rates, homebuyers must be offered programs outside the normal Fannie and Freddie products. To overcome closing cost and down-payment hurdles sometimes requires the use of programs such as USDA and Down-payment Assistance Programs. Other lenders we spoke to shied away from those even when I brought them up from my research about how we could buy a home at this time, in this market. Patrick wasn't afraid of those programs and actually had real knowledge of and experience with them! Maybe more importantly, and partially because of that, Patrick quickly became an ally in the loan process, working anything that came up, communicating immediately even when the news was hard to deliver. Having someone you can completely trust in your side in this process is essential!!! Patrick fully became that person for us. I could let go of some of the stress and thinking because I knew Patrick was resourceful, knowledgeable, and working for us all the time! Patrick got us into our home - just like he said he would!
