We learned about Glenlaurel from the Only in Ohio website. It is an adults only resort located in the Hocking Hills. It sounded interesting, so I looked at their website. After reading the reviews, I immediately booked a romantic weekend getaway to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were not disappointed! Rooms: We stayed in the Ross Suite that was located on the second floor of the Carriage House. The room featured a gas fireplace at the foot of our king size bed as well as a large shower and claw foot tub. There was a small kitchenette as well. Although the Inn warned that the wi-fi reception was not the greatest there, we were pleasantly surprised that our suite had great reception as we were located in the carriage house. The Inn has probably 10 more suites in the lodge and carriage house as well as 7 crofts and 6 cottages on site. They were on the property a short ride from the lodge. Walkability: The Inn is located on a small county road away from traffic and only a short drive to Hocking Hills State Park and all of their great hiking trails. The Inn has their own hiking trail complete with waterfalls and overlooks. The trail is about a one mile round trip and not as strenuous as some of the trails at Old Man's Cave or Cantwell Cliffs. Food & drinks: Probably the best part of our stay were the fabulous 6 and 7 course meals prepared by our French chef, JM. Everything that he prepared was from scratch using fresh ingredients flown in from around the world. Every course that we had on both nights was prepared in a way that only a fine chef can master. He visited the dining room during our dessert course both evenings and entertained us with stories from his life and made everyone there feel right at home. There was a lounge near the dining area that served drinks before and after dinner. The optional meals were included in our weekend package. They were expensive, but worth every penny. Noteworthy details: A fantastic three course breakfast is included with the cost of lodging. The Inn has an eight hole links golf course designed in the style of an ancient Scottish course complete with hickory shafted clubs, old fashioned golf balls, and sand tees and greens. In keeping with the Scottish theme, we were called to dinner on Saturday night by bagpipes!

Got the anniversary package and stayed in the MacKenzie room. Rose bouquet and chocolates included. Package included breakfast, packed lunch, and six course dinner. Inn has an open pub. Great scenery trails to explore on property. They do a good job of the small details including a dollar game in your room, greeting you at the door, clean lodging, and notes with your meals. The meals make this place extra special. They're cooked by chefs. The hospitality at GlenLaurel is great. Could improve on their desserts. I expected a bit more. Rooms: Clean, large bath tub, shower, bidet, electric fire, table, journal, game, king size bed (very comfortable), and very clean room. Food & drinks: Breakfast: many drinks to choose from, scones, porage, choice or main course. Packed lunch: choice of sandwich (we had pesto chicken sandwiches), cookies, water, chips, and a note. Cocktail hour: wines, liquor, many cocktails and dessert drinks Dinner: six course meal: entre, soup, salad, sorbet, main course, drinks, and dessert. Noteworthy details: Notes included in the rooms. Poetry read at dinner in honor of valentines. Very clean Inn. Light music always playing. Friendly and respectful staff. Chef greets dinner guests.

We had another wonderful stay at Glenlaurel, this time in the McDonald room which was perfect. It is hard to explain how this place makes you feel. The rooms and food were both outstanding. We could not make a suggestion for improvement. I do want to thank Melissa the Innkeeper who is amazing as well as the two Hannah's, Amber, and Samuel, all servers who treated us like family. For the price this Inn is unbeatable.

Love this place and will be back. Unique and beautiful. Great to reconnect with life and nature. Rooms: Scottish themed tastefully done. Walkability: For those physically challenged it is difficult but manageable by staying in the Manor House or Carriage House accommodations. Food & drinks: Old school...dining is an event not just a meal. Noteworthy details: Little to no internet connection and designed that way on purpose. Easly managed with having your own hotspot.
