Beware of the Refinance scheme. They will call you to refinance, and if you do, you will wipe out the payments you made for pennies on the dollar in cash. Let me explain, since they didn't: I borrow $1700 dollars. They need $2,500 back. I pay $160.00 for 5 months. I "Refinance", because I need less than $200 in cash, which I get, however, the $800 I already paid is now added back to my debt, so I lost $500.oo. POOF. Up in smoke. I had no idea re-starting the loan would cost me $500.00. So I shouldn't have done it. It served no purpose and no function, other than to pay someone's mortgage payment working there. It was a rip off, and I was legally scammed. So I learned that refinancing means, I legally give them $800.00 they give me $200.00 back and pocket the extra $500.00 and I start over on payments, owing $2,500.00. This is exactly what happened to me. It's a legal, flip flopping pyramid scheme. Everything was explained, confusingly, through number charts, and then blamed on Oklahoma's setting the numbers. So if my experience were to be converted into an informative conversation of Layman's terms, it would have gone something like this: Me: I need $160.00 Them: Ok, this will cost you $500.00, so are you ready to lose $500.00 and have it added back to what you owe us, for around $200.00? Me: No thank you. But that's not what happened. I paid $500.00 to restart my loan for no reason when I didn't need the penance that badly, and it cost me dearly. Now you know what "Refinancing" is. You give them 3 times as much back on your credit and they give you a 3rd of it back in cash. Lesson learned. Thanks for the loan. No thanks for "refinancing". It cost me twice as much in this economy.
