St Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The church and most of the people are very welcoming and friendly, but the priests and a lot of the Ukrainian families say really horrible things about the Russian church and community and have verbally harassed a family at the church causing a lady to leave in tears. Its horrible to see something like that happen at an Orthodox Church of all places.

St Mary's is a beautiful parish that has welcomed my family with much love and warmth! We have felt welcomed by both of the priests and their family, as well as the wonderful ladies of St. Mary's! I should have left a review before now, but perhaps it's God's timing, because I feel the previous one star review does an injustice to our beautiful parish, and does not understand the heart of St. Mary's or its members, as well as contains an inaccuracy that is not the heart of St. Mary's. I'm sure we've all had the blessing of our mothers or perhaps spouses making a cake for us on our birthday. When the cake is presented to you with candles and singing, there's a feeling of love and nurture that makes you feel wanted and loved, that you matter, and that people care. However, have you ever had someone who is not your mother or your spouse or a close relative make you a cake for your birthday? Well, all of us at St. Mary's parish in Jones, Oklahoma have, because our Matushka, our beloved Matushka, makes a cake for Every Single Member of Saint Mary's parish for their birthday, both Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian alike, adults as well as children! It is a family affair for the priest and his wife and son, who gather excitedly together while Father turns the lights off to let everyone know, someone has a birthday, and it's time for them to receive their cake from our Matushka, and we all gather to sing for our special brother or sister in Christ whose birthday it is that day! The whole parish takes part in this, singing for the birthday person, and Matushka makes such a beautiful huge cake, that it feeds the whole parish, while the St. Mary's ladies pass out the cake to everyone, and a huge piece is still left over for the birthday person to take home, who leaves feeling loved and cared about by their home parish! We had barely been going to St Mary's as a family, before they started pulling out cakes for our birthdays! My son has medical issues, and the whole parish prays for him, and Father Raphael anoints my son every Sunday with oil from Saint Nicholas, and asks this beloved Saint to heal my son! This is the heart and spirit of St Mary's! Here's my sweet son, receiving his beautiful cake from our dear Matushka and her family, as the whole parish sings to him!
