Cold Springs Campground

Amazing little peace if nature. Paradise ! Brings so many memories of Kentucky mountains in the early summer. Pictures speak for them selves but truly do not serve it justice! Absolutely beautiful trails! Definitely go In June! Water is COLD but on a nice hot day gives it GREAT balance. Lots of shade so temperatures are much cooler then just a few miles out to town. Restrooms: Clean and well lit! Close enough to each campground you can walk comfortably.

Cold Springs camp ground is a primitive campground. There are water spigots placed around sporadically, and depending on which camp site you choose you may have a spigot right on your site. Ofcouse know that the spigots are shared amongst all of the campers. There are 2 bathrooms with toilets and a sink. The river can be heard from many of the campsites along the road, and swimming holes are right across the road. All in all this is a wonderful and peaceful campground. Alcohol is not allowed so crazy partying isn't something found at Cold Springs. Oh and at night you'll see armadillos foraging through the leaves!

My family experience was great at the Springs, until a park ranger told me that I couldn't have my Service Dog with me in that area. She was on the falls close to me out of the water. We were told that I could sit in the shallow water with my dog on the bank. I wasn't able to be in the deep end with my family. I was then instructed that I could have my "dog" at the lake, which wasn't near the campground or the cold springs. The lake was warm, had drinks and pot smokers out there. Their website states that Service Dogs are not pets and they are allowed anywhere I am allowed to go. No one is above the ADA. I felt very secluded and hurt. My family was frustrated because we specifically went there for the Springs and my youngest daughters birthday. We went to the lake and did not stay overnight.
