Comparing this campgound to Grayback (down the road). Found Cave Creek to be cold, dark, and damp, located as it is in a rather narrow canyon. There were a few bear boxes for food, maybe one box for every six campsites. 5 stars for having open private sites, there were only two taken at 7pm on a Friday evening in the summer. But one star for families, the river was located down a steep ravine from many campsites, mosquitoes were omnipresent, reserved tickets on sites from several days before were not removed. Mostly, I didn't want to walk four campsites away to get to my coffee for the morning. Grayback, in comparison, was busier but not nearly filled, has no bear issues, was sunnier and had swimming sites in the creek. Couples might choose Cave Creek for privacy, families with younger children should choose Grayback.
