They claim that any packages that dont fit in the mailbox are dropped off as a courtesy. But they randomly refuse to deliver items. I can accept thats their policy but that doesnt explain why they accept delivery responsibility for the packages if theyre not going to deliver them. Either way, theres an attitude when trying to understand why the mail carrier refuses to deliver packages theyve been hired to deliver. I really like my regular mail carrier but theres some inconsistent policies that mean we dont get deliveries like we should dependably. Update: Another person contacted me from the office. In addition to being short staffed our carrier is on light duty. For some reason their system will mark packages as undeliverable or attempted delivery when they are simply marking them to be picked up. Additionally it marks it as customer requested. The contact person was very apologetic and wanted to work with me on this issue. There are clearly system issues, the issue with the previous person I spoke with but I respect theyre also in a hard situation and there are no winners. That doesnt make the post office any better, but it does make it more human.
