The road is VERY rough, especially for the last 3 miles. These pictures are from May 30th, 2023. Only high vehicles can make it. There are many deep holes and grooves in the road.

Campground is open for the first time since the 2020 wildfires. The animals may be very curious about you if you visit, since many of them were born since the fires and have not had any human contact the whole time. Please treat them and the campground with respect, it's one of the few places in the area that did not burn.

Not the way it use to be. Site's sit empty with people who reserved them and they no show. It's so hard to get a reservation anymore. On the weekend the beach fills up with folks from Bend who overpower it with loud music and day drinking. People in the campground set up their day camp right on the beach waterfront preventing anyone else the enjoyment of the easy access to the water and not allowing little kids to play. They even leave their stuff while hiking so everyone has to go around it. People need to learn to pull the boards off the beach area to allow the kids to play. So annoyed to not be able to get in and out of the water. The Elk Lake Resort has campers and events right next to the campsite. Kinda different to be making dinner while a party is going on next door. Been coming here for 30 years and it's no longer the relaxing beach with campers who knew how to share and let the young kids play.

We stayed in the resort campground in the glamping tents. Tent sites are close together, not on the lake, glamping tents are nice, beds - better than sleeping on the ground. Porta potties, mosquito's would be a negative. Shower protocol is subject to staff availability. Price is probably a bit high for what you get.

Needs traffic direction signage. Otherwise it is a great campground.
