Middle Fork Nat'l Rec Trail - Road 1035 Trailhead

I would recommend bathrooms but otherwise it's a nice trail. A lot of mosquitoes, poison oak and ivy, as well as some washed out parts of the trail made it a bit tougher to enjoy but all in all it was nice to be out in nature.

Are you feeling lucky? Parked my car here for a few hours came back and it was stripped and totaled. The local crack heads infest this area every summer, camping along the river between here and the lake. They know the police will not investigate property crimes in this area, it's not in Oregon so don't bother calling them, and too far from a station in California. The Siskiyou county sheriff told me in plain English he would take my information but not to expect anything to come of it. Our tax dollars at work.

950 is a great trail if you want to hike to Frog Pond trailhead (per Sullivan guides walk thru), but if you want to continue on 950 past 953 (towards Bean gulch) be prepared for a rollercoaster. The trail veers wildly from all documented trail maps and even steers you over (or near to) a condemned crossing over the middle fork. The trail degrades and diverges - I wouldn't recommend going past around the 3 mile mark on 950.
