        The Hillsboro transit center is a great place to catch a ride for an affordable price. The station is clean and well maintained by the transit staff. You do need a ticket to ride the bus or Max ($2.50). They have cash or card operated machines that you can buy your tickets at. If you're caught by a transit officer without a ticket, you would have been fined a $175 in the past. But now, the new fee structure would charge first-time offenders $75. From there, the fees would increase to $100, $150, and $175 for each successive violation. So, in my opinion, it is better to be safe and just get the $2.50 ticket.
