Holiday Inn Portland West - Hillsboro, an IHG Hotel

The overall service and cleanliness of the establishment has gone down since my last stay here several years ago. However, the hotel is in a great location close to shopping, restaurants, coffee and some attractions which is great! I had an awkward moment approaching the front desk to check in. I would have expected a simple greeting such as "Welcome" or "How may I help you?" Instead, I received an awkward stare from an older Causcasian lady standing behind the desk. The other younger Asian lady was warmer and help me get checked in smoothly. The cookies was a nice welcoming treat, which my kids enjoyed! The bathroom in my room could have used better cleaning. There was a black gunk around the base of cold water faucet lever. There was what looks like mold around the drain plug ring. The cleaner should have used a toothbrush or scraper to clean it up, which does not take very long. The toilet lid is noisy. It makes a loud sound when closing it. The lid just falls straight down. They should consider investing in toilet seats that slowly closed so it doesn't startle guests. Other than that, the 2 queen beds room was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable, and the room amenities were practicle and useful. The hotel provides free wifi service, which works for cellphones and tablets, but does work for handheld gaming devices such as Nintendo Switch specifically. What a waste. I'm not sure why it's locked down. It's quite a disservice to customers. I even asked someone in the front desk if there was a specific way to get the device connected to wifi and the response was..."I don't know". This kind of response is not helpful! If you don't know, make extra effort to find another alternative or solution for your customers. Take some initiative to ask another co-worker who may know. If there isn't any solution the the hotel should probably figure this issue out moving forward. I've stayed in other Holiday Inn hotels, which does not have this problem. I will most likely not stay here again in the future if this issue isn't resolved.

Rooms: Our room was great size, king-size bed, sofa sleeper, mini fridge, microwave and keurig machine. Our only thing was the bed was not as comfortable Safety: Great locks on the door. The atmosphere was quiet and always felt safe moving throughout the place

BEWARE!!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT BAT AN EYE!!! If I could do zero stars I would. I moved my reservation to a different date and ended up having to cancel. I was well before the 24 hour cancellation that was noted on my reservation yet they still charged me a cancellation fee.

Safe and quiet location. Clean and modern room. But I booked this place because kids wanted to use the hot tub: however, the hot tub was disgusting and poorly maintained.
