I am an adult student of piano, who took piano lessons from Alicia Barrett. I found her approach to teaching piano very methodical and well-rounded. Her approach to teaching piano covers several aspects: theory, scales, technical exercises, dynamics and developing repertoire pieces to a performance standard. I especially appreciated her emphasis on music theory and developing understanding of theoretical concepts and how they are present in the repertoire pieces I was working on. She is patient and flexible with adult learners and is great to work with the adult schedule constraints. I am much better at piano at the end of piano lessons than when I started with her. Alicia is a great piano teacher and highly recommend her. Unfortunately, I cannot continue my lessons due to a change in my job but if circumstances permit, I would definitely connect with her for further piano lessons.
