A great place to play with the kids. The hike was reasonable even with all the niceties we brought. The water was warmer then expected, not warm mind you. We bring wet suits everywhere which was great here to ease the bumps and bruises and allow 4 hours of non stop fun in the water. It wasn't busy at all when we were there on a Tuesday, but I can see it being very crowded during the busy summer weekends. If you like paying in the river is a must of your in the area. Bring plenty of water to drink. Parking: Day use area limited parking Fees: $5 day use. Restrooms: Outhouse in the campground Dog-friendliness: National forest dogs allowed. Bring your own bags.

Use the McKay campground for GPS directions. You will come off the main paved highway onto a lose gravel road, 2.5 miles down make a left into campground and go over small bridge. Limited parking on right. 1.5 mile one way moderate hike uphill to the slide. Slide and water pool are a blast. Water is freezing bring snacks and change of clothes. Also wear good water/hiking shoes. Must climb large boulder path back up to do slide again.

Easy hike in from McKay Crossing and a lot of fun in the hot weather. I also see a lot of comments about the tour groups coming in and acting like they own the place but while we were their two separate groups came in and the guides were not only courteous, they were helping the non-customers out by showing them the best places to slide.
