The Reuben special was phenomenal. Prompt service, and an amazing patio. We will be back to try more of the menu items. The brisket Mac and cheese was great! Don't forget to add jalapenos!

Portion sizes are not good. Brisket was Just okay. Got only 2 small strips with my order. Was really dissapointed with the whole thing. The owner came up to me and asked what was wrong and that it was a normal portion size. I didn't even ask for the owner he just came up to my table after the waiter told him It was underwhelming. Was very weird approach. Would try something else if you go but can't recommend

We came in with a large group on a Sunday afternoon after the lunch rush and before dinner. Our group had mixed reviews on their food. But I'll say this, when you go to any restaurant, you need to be able to figure out what their signature dishes are, and you won't be disappointed. For example, one of my friends ordered wings, and I thought to myself, why would you order wings here? We already know where to get good wings, try something new! I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was the best I've had in a long time. The chicken was a thigh, which is great because it has good flavor and it's tender and juicy. The batter was light, and still very crunchy. I could taste the spices in the batter. Well done. Fries were great flavor, a mix of crunchy and soggy. There was a variety of sauces that were all home made, even the ketchup. And there was also a BBQ and cherry sauce. You could tell the chef put a lot of thought and effort into crafting some good quality food. I could taste the nuances between the different sauces and they went well with my sandwich. It's stuff like this that helps me respect a restaurant more - they care about the food they're serving. We had a large group and the servers were very kind and responsive. I spoke with the chef after and got a sense of his approach to food. He told me he didn't have any tomato on the menu because he hasn't found a good local, seasonal supplier and therefore doesn't want to serve gross tasting tomatoes. I respect that. Since they're relatively new in the community, it seemed like they have some operational things to work out as they gear up for the spring and summer season. I'm sure they will figure it out. The food prices were a little high for my liking but I understand, being on the coast (a tourist town), prices of things are usually high anyway. As a local I would come back more often for that chicken sandwich if it were a couple dollars less. But BBQ is expensive to buy, prep and cook, so profit margins are slim. Overall, I would recommend. Order something unique, be present, enjoy the atmosphere, be thoughtful in your review.

I am a local and was looking forward to the new BBQ restaurant. Went mid afternoon. Service was slow. Asked for iced tea, they didn't have any. Got the brisket specials. Ranch dressing for fries tasted like Kraft. Music so loud, couldn't hear wife sitting next to me. Moved to an outside table since we started getting surrounded by drunken Newport Chamber of Commerce members standing around us like we inconvenienced them by being patrons at one of their local businesses. After a few minutes the Chamber zombies started swarming around us outside. Wait staff said they had posted the event on line, so we should have known. I guess it's my fault.

Thank you Kevin for the kind words. We work very diligently, we put our hearts and souls into our recipes to create the best and tastiest food creations possible. The creator of these foods is Chef Shane, who you spoke to last night. He takes full ownership of the restaurant because he truly cares about it's success and the joy in people's reactions when partaking of his meals confirms his hard work is appreciated and worth his efforts. Thanks for coming up to The Wilds and safe travels to you!

Hi Cooper, I, as the owner of the Wilds, actually approve Chef Shane deciding to approach your table after hearing you were not happy. This shows his concern and wanting to make it right, if possible. The portions are weighed and calculated into a summary that gives us a very small profit. The cost of meats, and all ingredients for that matter, is ridiculously high these days, which causes a huge overhead for us since we make everything from scratch. Everything except our breads and noodles, which we will in the future. If you ever decide to give us another shot, try some of our other menu items. I'm very confident it will change your mind.Cheerz,Dave

Todd, you should try us again on a less busy day. Fridays are our busiest days already and add the Ribbon Cutting event on top of that plus live music I understand why you may have been irritated.Hopefully you give us another shot and update your 1 Star rating because it doesn't seem like a fair assessment due to the circumstances that evening. Cheers,Dave
