From the beginning of the process all the way to the end Jason and his team ensured that we understood the process and were there when we needed them, they answered any questions that we might have had as first time homebuyers. As a first-time home buyer and someone who is generally financially illiterate, Jason was invaluable. He met with my husband and I before we started seriously considering purchasing a home and helped us determine the validity of that process. After walking us though our financial situation and hearing what our goals for our home and our life were, Jason assured us that we were ready. When we found a house we wanted to put an offer on, Jason scheduled with us immediately and ran through different financing scenarios and explained every nuanced piece of an offer. He was able to clarify exactly what he would do, what we would need to do, and what everyone else on the team would do to make the transaction possible. Jason is highly professional but still feels like a comfortable old friend. He is highly available and knowledgeable while being down to earth and conversational. A recent sour experience with a home repair/upgrade salesman compelled me to write this. My wife and I recently bought our first home together, and while I'd like to say it was all a smooth & magnificent journey through a beautiful dream, it was anything but. However, fortunately, thank the gods, we had a superhero of a mortgage broker to help us, otherwise it would never have happened. If youve never bought a house before, then you probably have only an intellectual grasp of how predatory & intimidating the whole market is. Even after the sale of a home, there will be follow-on expenses like foundation or roof repair. And the legacy of tin men still pervades these industries. They dont regard much of what you say and you should take their advice with a truckload of salt, because theyve lived a career of persuasion and disingenuousness and apparently dont know any other life. We were recommended a realtor by a colleague of mine whom we grew to trust, who then recommended the one mortgage advisor whom she trusts first & foremost in her network. His name was Jason Fleming, a local mortgage broker at Neo Home Loans. He was able to educate us about the complex financial process as it applied to our unique set of circumstances, and with a monk-like kindness fielded even the dumbest, inane, anxiety-laced questions we had as first-time home buyers. Jason was terrific at every turn of this process. We had prepared ourselves financially for this huge step in our lives as well as anybody could have, but without Jasons expertise and humanity we wouldnt have made it. Hes a genuinely nice, calm guy & contagiously honest. Hes a local, lives Portland, and understands all the challenges. Through this seeming ocean of sharks, its always important that good people stick together and we need to praise the human beings who still make it possible. There are some, a handful Id say, in the real estate market who are genuine, easygoing, measured, empathic human beings who have made it their calling to help home buyers through the financial maze-phase as smoothly and with the best advice anyone could ever hope for.
