More of a review for Richland, Oregon in the Eagle Valley, across the pass 15 miles from Halfway, Oregon in the Pine Valley. This small but strong little community is fortunate to have the Post Office continuing to serve. For a hamlet of just over 150 souls it has about everything, it's amazing! Hardware store, tiny grocer, basic restaurant (presently closed due to the virus pandemic), bar & grill, motel, RV park, cell phone store, public housing, library, and a solid Christian Church.. and lots of friends you've not met yet. These and more are packed into this solid, tight little settlement. And there ARE eagles here! Attached is my photo of a spotted eagle (an immature bald eagle, larger than mature ones) than had a wingspan of around 7 feet, seriously. It hung out here for 10 days back in 2015, getting to watch it fly close by several times. Also, a shot from the pass looking back to the low-light character of the land with the edge of Richland just visible on the right margin of my photo. I'd love to live here one day instead of just visiting, though rents can be few and far between.
