My wife Catherine and I are in the process of building a house in Bandon. Our contractor recommended Umpqua Stone for our coutertops so last September we drove over to Roseburg and met with Crea McKeen, the owner. We immediately enjoyed working with Crea. We had renderings from our cabinet maker that we went over with Crea so she could visualize what we wanted. She showed us her shop and set up a meeting for us at a large stone supplier in Portland to look at soapstone slabs. We chose the soapstone there in Portland for our kitchen counter tops and sink, and the man Crea had set up to meet with us was very helpful. We went back to Umpqua Stone, let Crea know we had found what we wanted and she arranged to have the soapstone brought down to her shop. Then we looked at granite she had available at her shop for counter tops in the pantry, mudroom and guest bathroom and picked out beautiful slabs that would look great in our house. Once we had all our stone identified it was a matter of waiting until the cabinets were built and installed. As it turned out our cabinet maker, Matt Hallman of Hallman Woodworks, had made the renderings, was in Roseburg and he and Crea were friends and worked closely together on other projects. Between the time we identified the stone we wanted and the time that cabinets were installed and ready for the counter tops we had a LOT of questions and decisions to make. This is where Crea and her team really helped us in finalizing exactly what we wanted. A great example is the incredible soapstone sink they built and ideas they had putting it together. Being our first home building experience it was invaluable to have their input and ideas on all the fine details that were involved in making and installing the counter tops. Crea and her team of master craftsmen worked with us and kept us in the loop throughout the project and as a result, when they finished, it was exactly what we wanted and we could not be happier. We highly recommend Umpqua Stone for anyone in need of high quality stonework.
