The repair/paving project on highway 62 south of the bridge in Shady Cove that was completed yesterday 10/04/2023 is one of the worse projects Ive ever seen by a state highway department or most any public agency anywhere across the United States. The asphalt is already unraveling, the end of each side of the paving is sloppy, the transition to the bridge deck is too high there are wheel tracks in the asphalt that nobody bothered to take out before the rollers compacted the mat, the job was left with loose gravel, whole thing is amateurish and reeks of We cant see it from our house attitude. Did you use a paving machine or did you just spread it around with a motor grader ? Whomever was supervising this project shouldnt be allowed to supervise filling a pothole with a shovel and a bag of cold patch. I have over 40 years in the road construction and maintenance 32 years with a public agency as a manager and if this happened under my watch, letters of reprimand would just be the beginning of cleaning house from the top down. Demotions, reassignment, intense training regarding work habits and procedures and training on how to take pride in your work. I guarantee that this mess wouldnt have happened in front of any of you employees houses. Take a look at this mess and tell me if it would be acceptable in front of your home. The citizens of Jackson County deserve better. Your only recourse is to grind it all up and start over or at the very least apply a type two slurry over the top but prior to the slurry fix the transitions for crying out loud. PATHETIC WORKMANSHIP, Where is your pride ?????
