You're commissioning a design here, not buying furniture, remember that! Sure you can shop online and the pix really are great, but I recommend you visit Doylestown to browse the wood slabs in person.  Some of the pieces are huge and basically deserve their own wing of a house or museum, some are esoteric tropical hardwoods and others domestic, maybe you'll find a match.We did, and Jeffrey's shop fashioned a gorgeous five-foot table from a live edge maple slab. Upon delivery it instantly became the most talked about (and expensive) piece of furniture in our place. We eat every meal on it so it's not just for show.But the process was definitely a little bumpy. Once you agree to the notable price (and the stands add one K), you gotta pay half within two days to hold the slab. Unfortunately credit cards are completely off limits and you cannot mail them a check either, it's either fedex or direct deposit. We got the money there eventually and the multi-month wait wasn't so bad, but somehow the shop made the table differently than originally agreed in writing, so we had lots of back-and-forth email about dimensions before we simply accepted the built size. And on delivery ($325 to Jersey) I thought the legs were attached rather cheaply with lag bolts instead of threaded insert nuts, but we learned to live with that too.Bottom line: if you want a work of art that you can use every day this might be your place, just be patient.
