My husband was seeing her frequently for counseling sessions, and everything was fine. He was doing well, so they BOTH suggested that it was not necessary to continue having frequent sessions, and for him to reach out to her the next time he would like to schedule an appointment. Some time went by, he was having a difficult time, so he did what she advised him to do, and reached out to her asking to make an appointment. Her response was I do not have any evenings open and am pretty booked out, you may want to consider finding yourself a new therapist. What kind of professional mental health provider says that to their client? As a mental health provider it is your job to not only TRY to find a time and at least work with your clients, but its also your job to not make them feel worse about themselves, turn them away and deny treatment. She never even attempted to check on him or reach out to him later on to see if he found another therapist. Imagine if someone was suicidal or in a very deep place and she shot them down like that when they asked for help? Not only is that not professional, thats down right WRONG. Do yourself a favor and do not trust her with your mental health, find someone else.
