I attended PCK 2 years ago and graduated. It was one of the best experiences in my adult life. Not only did I learn culinary skills, I learned and relearned interpersonal skills, updated my math skills, learned to work as part of a team. PCK changed my life for the better. Superb training, great chefs, administrators and other students that I will always be fond of. PCK gives and gives and gives. It is a gift that keeps on giving to their students and to the community. I am a chef now and love it. Im a healthy 63 yr young woman who embarked on a passion...a dream. PCK makes dreams come true. Soon I will be going further with my education...my culinary dream to study more at one of the best culinary schools in the world and continue to use all the positive training and life enhancing experiences I received and gained at Philabundance Community Kitchen. I will always be grateful to the donors, owner, chefs, teachers, and staff and volunteers and fellow students. Its life changing for the community and for any student that works hard and ethically to reach the goals PCK puts forth. Carlotta "A'Ries" Ferguson

This place is a scam. I came here to volunteer, and while working, I encountered creepy workers, disinterested organizers aimlessly wandering around, and a rude receptionist who just wanted to stare at her phone or computer instead of helping people. Furthermore, during my 4 hour shift, staff and volunteers helped themselves to a 1+ hour lunch of decadent steaks and sides while packing lunches of browned apples and cheap cashew butter for those in need. The people who work here are pigs, and the fact that donations/tax dollars support this kind of self-indulgent behavior infuriates me. Never again will I donate or volunteer here. *If you have the funds access to steaks, etc, give that to the people who are NOT gainfully employed, that need actual need help. Have your paid workers eat the leftover brown fruit or bring their own lunch. There are disabled, homeless, food insecure children, and elderly all over this city that would gladly take those student meals. Especially when people give money/time in good faith to feed THOSE groups in need.

Hello Anna, Thank you for sharing your review with us. We truly are very saddened to hear that this is your experience. We would like to learn more about your time with us so that we can ensure that every volunteer has an great experience. The lunch that you spoke of was prepared by our culinary students for the free adult culinary training program that is ran in that building. After the students are finished preparing their hands on lesson for the day, the students and staff enjoy the samplings. WE are proud to say that this program has help 100's of audults break the cycle of hunger through gainful employment. We take food quality very seriously and always strive to distribute the freshest produce possible to the people that we serve. Occasionally, some of the fresh produce that we receive is brown or has ripened quickly so we have volunteers sort that out so that people are not served that food. We are very sorry for your negative experience and will use this review to work harder ensure that this is not the experience for other volunteers.
