SpringHill Suites by Marriott Pittsburgh Washington

We will not be staying here again. The other 1-2 star reviews are accurate. This place needs help. The neglect and lack of attention at this property are obvious. Rooms are worn and crusty. The window in our room needs repair. Hair and dirty towel found in the bathroom. I'm glad we are only here and for one night. Please pay a little more and try a different place. This place is in poor shape and a disgrace to the Marriot brand.

The staff was very friendly and helpful but the hotel was old and our room was dirty. I read previous reviews and decided to book this hotel anyways as I stopped for a few hours of sleep before continuing roadtrip. I wish I would have skipped it as the room and sheets smelled like mildew, the bed was uncomfortable and the walls thin resulting in a poor nights sleep. My room had no soap and small amount of toilet paper on arrival which was inconvenient. Good location, nice staff but cleanliness and inconveniences equal 2 stars. I wish I would have kept driving.

I agree with what other reviewers said - this felt more like a Motel 6 than a Marriott hotel. The franchise owners and their staff need to go back to hospitality school - they had no idea about how to treat guests. In fact, I would say they were rude, and treated you like you were there to steal their threadbare sheets, lumpy pillows, and stained towels. There were "rules" posted everywhere threatening you that if you didn't follow them, you would be charged an additional fee. The breakfast was disgusting - no coffee available for over 30 minutes, and when I tried to get some I from an area that had yet another sign saying this coffee wasn't available, but to serve yourself from the area that had empty carafes for over 30 minutes, a guy came running after me. The only redeeming part of this trip was that there was a very nice woman who was trying to keep the breakfast area stocked and was friendly, but she was the only one. Breakfast was inedible - a container of dry oatmeal that I guess you were supposed to add hot water to, but none was available. The eggs were powdered eggs, that stated they were "cage free" which doesn't matter of they come out of a box. Or you could have the eggs that were cooked in their plastic wrapper - no thanks. The sausage was undercooked and swimming in a liquid that was either from them being frozen or being prepared incorrectly. I couldn't try them to find out - I value my well being. Rooms were past their prime, but I will give them credit for at least having a big TV on the accent wall that had items like a thermostat removed with a big unpainted hole in the wall. I hope that Marriott gets better at providing support for their operations partners - I am beginning to question my decision to make them my brand of choice when I am traveling. There have been more bad than good experiences this year, and this was one of them.
