*****BUYER BEWARE******* I met Tim and began working with him about 3 years ago to take the original 1929/30 facing off of some existing cabinetry I had in the kitchen and build me boxes to re-attach the facing to. We talked at length - several hours over 2 visits including a visit when his son accompanied him. The quality was extremely important to me and I wanted to the best material I could get - Tim suggested maple - "hard core, maple". I agreed and paid $2,500 for two boxes which he did remove the facing (doors and trim) from it's place and affixed it to the new cabinets he built. After seeing them in place I decided to use them in another room and so sat them aside. Over a year later, I was pointing out the cabinets to my GC who immediately said "that's not maple that's MDF". I disputed this comment base on what Tim said and that I trusted him. My GC pointed out the cabinets were in fact MDF covered in maple veneer. I called Tim a few days later and confronted him. He said yes, they were MDF but that's what he meant by "hard core". And that they were maple because he had maple veneer on the outside. I asked him if he thought is was fair to charge me $2,500 for MDF and did he think it was honest to describe the cabinets as hard core? He said yes, because even though it's MDF it is hardcore and due to the amount of work he did to remove the facing and the work he did, it was fair. I'll add here he was in my home removing the facing which I'd previously removed and placed in in the location where Tim was removing it, where Tim and his son took about an hour to pull off (again). At the end of the call I asked Tim to think it over. I never received a call back. When I'm able to get pictures I'll take some of the cabinetry which is already splitting through the "hard core". If you've purchased cabinets from this business, I suggest you check the core to see if your "hard core" cabinets are actually MDF.
