Harkins Development

I rented a home owned by Chris Harkins via VRBO for a family vacation. Unfortunately the home was not as advertised. Both critical issues (ie; A/C system not working, plus an ANT infestation in the kitchen) and overall condition/cleanliness left much to be desired. Although we could not get a hold of Chris during the stay (multiple attempts made) I finally spoke with Chris on the experience & provided him pictures/detail on the issues we had with his rental property. He acknowledged that it was subpar & therefor agreed to refund me a portion of our outlay... THEN HE DISAPPEARED. I have tried for multiple weeks now (between text/call/email) -- and he has totally dodged us - failing to send the promised refund. Given the other review here - perhaps this is common place for Chris? Perhaps it's how Harkins Development does business? Your call to make - but I would strongly suggest - buyer beware / stay away. The quality of product (pics) & service (failure of promise) that Harkins delivers is very poor in my experience.

We purchased a condo off of this company and although they did keep many of their promises, they saddled our small Condo Association with a fault which will cost 10's of thousands to fix...which they knew about and did not disclose. This was the entire water supply to the condo - which is ancient and private and leaks underground to the tune of many thousands (in extra water costs) per year. The developer knew about it because he received the (high) bills that the leak created, even before anyone lived here! Now he refused to make good both to the condo itself and even to the recent buyers who are within their "warranty" period. Not recommended for this reason. Note - we love the condo itself and the interior was done to very high standards. UPDATE 2017 - A deal was worked out and our Condo Association contributed 10's of thousands for a new water line - Harkins did the job and paid most of the costs, but we still lost additional 10's of thousands in excess water bills over a 6 year period before it was fixed.
