I wanted to give acupuncture a try for my chronic back and neck pain. I was lucky to have found Dr. Tamra Portalla at Ancient Roots Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. Her office space is clean and quiet with easy on street parking. Scheduling was hassle free and we quickly worked out a treatment plan together. The treatments are amazing! Tamra is welcoming, knowledgable and above all caring. My pain has been reduced considerably allowing me to be more active. I plan on going back soon!

I recently moved to Rhode Island from the west coast and was looking for acupuncture and cupping services for back pain and plantar fasciitis. I am so grateful to have found Tamra! She demonstrates strong expertise of the human body and knowledge of acupuncture. Additionally, she is a natural problem-solver who truly listens to her clients, making sure to create a relaxing ambience for healing. All of these factors combined have resulted in the best acupuncture and cupping I have ever experienced from any provider! Strongly recommended and we are lucky to have her in Providence.

Tamra is such a nice and sweet caring person. I am glad I found a lovely acupuncturist. She is the first acupuncturist Ive ever been to. I went in because I heard acupuncture could help regulate your menstrual cycle. Within the first week, I had a (finally) normal period and whether it was because of the acupuncture or not, I was able to conceive (not intentional). Tamra was able to continue to provide acupuncture throughout the duration of my pregnancy up until I recently moved. Tamra is very skilled and I would recommend her to anyone.

Today was my first time receiving acupuncture from Dr. Portalla. The office is easy to find and has a calming and quiet vibe. Dr. Portalla was thorough in her evaluation/intake, and I was impressed by her warm and upbeat nature, and her willingness to explain why she chose those specific areas to insert the needles. I also received cupping on my back, which was very welcome as I hold a lot of tension in my shoulders, and massages cant always work it all out. I left her office feeling very relaxed and zen, and I look forward to my next visit.
