HVAC purchase and installation. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. My Father and I have used Ben for over 40 years as an electrician and never had a problem. But Ben stopped being an electrician and started selling Goodman HAVAC Systems.Despite warnings from Sands Enterprises Contractors- a family contact, the internet and all of the reputable companies in town, I chose to use Ben at Cost Plus Services. He promised service after the sale because his son was living in Charleston and he would service my unit. WRONG!!!!- He totally lied! I called on Monday and he told me he would come to and check out my new Goodman and he said he would come to my home on Wednesday or Thursday. He never showed or called and I wasted 2 days waiting on Cost Plus. So, with an attitude he told me to use someone local. Despite the fact that he sold me on service. So I called the highest rated HVAC Company in Charleston.
What they found was a shock! ALL OF MY PROBLEMS WERE DUE TO A BAD INSTALL! Ben, the owner of cost plus and an Electrician, installed my unit utilizing raw copper tubes with no fuses. This is a severe CODE Violation!
He set me up for a house fire!
He also used the 25 year old, rust laden condensate pan that needed replacing- because he never replaces ancient, rust laden and faulty condensate pans. He also installed the unit with the drain pipe sitting on top of the Float switch-ensuring that the condensate pan would overflow and cause my ceiling to collapse again- this is why I needed a new unit to start off. To make things worse, when I called Ben at cost plus and talked to a man I have done business with for 40 years- he never accepted any responsibility. He was argumentative and unprofessional. He also forgot to hang up the phone and I listened to him malign me with racial slurs and call me a Fcking A-hole in Charleston - I wont repeat the rest.
If you want a two man team that want a quick buck, that dont know how to install a low end HVAC product- then Ben at Cost Plus will screw you too!!
