The (beach) campground has very nice access to the beach. Short walk from our site to the beach at designated access points. Campsites are too expensive, these are pushing hotel prices. While we were there in March, biting flies or gnats were common when the wind wasnt blowing. We did not know this when we booked our sites but Edisto Beach State Park is a very dog friendly beach with designated times of the year where off-leash is allowed. When we were there, there were not many people (in March) which made it even better. The campground is very close to the grocery store and liquor store. Riding a bike to them is easy but it is also convenient to walk there. The gift shop had plenty of items to take back with you along with bug spray, fire wood, and ice cream. The camp ground hosts were pleasant and circulated around to ready sites for the next campers. The town itself has a handful of restaurants. We ate at Whaleys which is the towns dive bar but their fried oysters were top notch! Their beer selection tended towards mainstream American lagers but they had an interesting option or two on the menu. Restrooms: Clean. Dog-friendliness: Off leash part of the year is great.

Best camping in SC. Right on the beach. Reserved like a year in advance, though.

Amazing place to camp. I could literally not ask for more. We were in RV site 3, which is not flat at all but goes up and back down again. It is flat enough for tent camping though. Site 3 is literally around the corner from beach access but is still very private. You hear the waves on the beach crash all night. It was very quiet. FoodLion is right outside of the campground, so I'd suggest not bringing food if you are traveling a long distance with out a lot of space. Dog friendly if on a leash. Playground: There is one, we have adult children and no grandchildren so we didn't use it. Restrooms: Very clean, cleaned daily, nice with private showers. Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly if on 6 ft leash Most restaurants are dog friendly. Also with patio space. Picnic area: There are picknick areas, you can only use coal. We had our on campsite with picknick so didn't use it.
