A suggestion to cure a parking problem. On occasion it seems that many of the public garages are full and street parking is required. The 2 hour limit combined with the old meters many of which are either not working or do not properly reflect the time purchased (in my case twice this past week I purchased 2 hours only to find I was issued a ticket after only one hour) can be frustrating. If I have a street/meter parking place I am more inclined not to stay downtown and have lunchwhile worrying about the meter running out, or not working. In Chicago the city has moved to smart meters that allow use of a smart phone to pay for parking at a meter and also extending the time, without the need to run to the meter before time is up. This would be a better way to keep people in the shopping area or at restaurants. Time to upgrade!
