I have lived with Valley Rental for several years and have been considering moving but now with new management I will stay for as long as I can. Darcy is always very pleasant and so patient and kind. Always returns my calls right away and makes sure we have everything we need. Maintenance shows up right away to fix anything and is also very kind and knowledgeable. The only complaint I have right now is the new office girl Tammy is quite rude, might be because I am older but she made me feel quite bad for calling with a question. I will just wait for Darcy from now on.

Filed two legal complaints against Valley Rental for witholding deposit and illegally deducting deposit. I would advise other tenants to take similar action by calling Division of Consumer Protection, Office of Attorney General SD. Currently working with an attorney to sue the company. Source: SDC 1939, 38.0422. 43-32-24. Return of security deposit after termination of tenancy--Withholding--Itemized accounting--Forfeiture of withholding rights--Punitive damages. Every lessor of residential premises shall, within two weeks after the termination of the tenancy and receipt of the tenant's mailing address or delivery instructions, return the security deposit to the tenant, or furnish to the tenant, a written statement showing the specific reason for the withholding of the deposit or any portion thereof.

I lived here for 3 years and didnt have an issue until I tried to move out. It was great prior to new management. SAVE YOUR MONEY. LOOK ELSEWHERE. HEED MY WARNING. The new management is Completely UNPROFESSIONAL. They took my security deposit and after telling me things looked good in the unit, and verbatim told me I wouldnt get charged for an already needed floor replacement. They proceeded to charge me for that, a unit cleaning (I had professionals clean the apartment prior to me leaving), painting the walls, and a furnace filter. All amounting to close to $600 after already taking the deposit.They want you to pay for cleaning and flipping THEIR unit and for it not to come out of their pockets, the apartments are beautiful but Id read these reviews below and find somewhere else to rent.

Horrible experience with management when moving out. They wanted us to move out early and still pay for the full month. After moving out we asked for someone to let us in to get a package of ours that was not forwarded to our new address. Her solution to this was to just wait for someone who lives there to let us in because she didn't have time to come let us in.
