The Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT) is a multi-denominational seminary located in Brookings, South Dakota. We welcome students of all backgrounds and denominations. Our slogan is "Online Degrees Done Differently." What makes us stick out from the crowd is the opportunity for students to take higher education courses from anywhere they are located. You can also take courses at your own pace.Institute of Lutheran Theology 910 4th St Brookings, SD 57006 (605) 692-9337 https://ilt.edu/ https://www.google.com/maps?cid=4309188598000931150The Institute of Lutheran Theology is proud to provide affordable classes to our students. By taking online classes, tuition rates and overhead costs are more affordable than traditional university rates. That means students can enroll in one of our many classes and set your own schedules to learn at your own speed without paying high tuition for strict schedules and deadlines.ILT focuses on critical thinking, learning, and assisting our students to achieve your God-given calling. That's why our fully-accredited online college offers many flexible seminary programs, including Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees. Seeing our students graduate and live the life you're meant to live is one of our primary goals. The Institute of Lutheran Theology uses Microsoft Teams so students can engage with professors and other students at your convenience. Hold one-on-one meetings, participate in class conversations, work on group projects, and more. Study your course lectures and complete projects from the comfort of your home, at a coffee shop, the public library, or wherever you feel most at ease.ILT programs include the Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Philosophy. You can also earn a Master of Ministry in Chaplaincy or Master of Ministry. Two of our B.A. degrees are the Bachelor of Arts in Entrepreneurial Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Theology. Our Associate degrees include Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies and Associate of Arts in History of Religions. We offer certifications too, including a Pastoral Ministry Certificate or Youth and Family Certificate. There are two open studies options as well, the Graduate Open Studies and Undergraduate Open Studies. The admissions criteria vary depending on what a student's status is. We offer conditional admission, provisional admission, and full admission. Full admission means the applicant fulfills all admission requirements and is a matriculated prospect for a degree. The conditional admission is for candidates who fulfill all requirements, however, you still need specific official documents. Once those documents are submitted to the Office of Admissions, the candidate's status changes to full admission.Provisional admission is for applicants with strong qualifications in other areas, but your GPA is below the minimum requirement for their program of choice. Provisional students must sustain at least a 2.5 GPA for a full scholastic year to be admitted as a regular student.ILT does accept credit transfers. Our Transfer of Credit Policy explains students are responsible for talking to your previous schools to have them send official transcripts directly to the Institute of Lutheran Theology. Students transferring credits from accredited theological seminaries need to get in touch with the registrar, though credit for work completed in undergraduate programs are not transferable to The Institute of Lutheran Theology graduate programs. No more than half the credits that apply to an ILT degree can come from other institutions, and credits from non accredited programs are considered on a case by case basis. To read more about our Transfer of Credit Policy, visit our site or call your academic advisor.

image I am in my second semester as an MDiv student and feel truly blessed to be part of the ILT family. First, it is both an honor and a joy to "sit at the feet" of such brilliant, passionate, and faithful instructors and professors. The classes are theologically sound and academically rigorous. In addition to teaching the classes, the instructors genuinely care about their students. They give time to students outside of course time, even responding to the needs of students during their "off duty" time. They are faithful in prayer and spent much of last fall lifting me as well as my family up in prayer on a very regular basis. My entire family has been blessed by our ILT family. I highly recommend The Institute of Lutheran Theology if you wish to attend a seminary that will not only help prepare you for ministry but especially if you are looking for brothers and sisters in Christ, both students and staff, who will walk along-side you and support you in your journey.

image The education is unbeatable. Coming from a different seminary, I can say this one by far is most challenging, and rewarding. The education is unsurpassed, (with my experience.)

image ILT is a traditional seminary delivered in a non- traditionally way. It is traditional because it teacher the Word of God through the dual lenses of Law and Gospel on the one side, and the Theology of the cross on the other. These allow us to see Christ clearly both in the Word, and as we interact with people pastorally.
