It was a very great experience. The security guard was cheerful and was joking around with me as we spoke. He was informative as to what I needed to do to accomplish what I was there for. I got my number. It took about 10 minutes and I was already being called to a window. Because the woman yesterday on the phone gave me such precise information as to what forms I needed filled out and what forms I would need to show, I was done in about 3 minutes.

I went with my daughter to fill out social security death benefits for her because her dad passed away. Actually we were told by another state- NYS her brother that lives there that for him to fill out his paper work SS told him to tell us to fill out this paperwork. So we went down to social security. We told social security that my daughter was collecting some benefits already under me because I am disabled and she was in High School at the time which they knew. I would frequently go there in person and get a statement of benefits for housing and medical also. Social security stated after we filed that what ever my daughter got would be stated divided between the siblings. A few months went by and we called the main number to get an update on the status and spoke to a woman and she questioned and stated that you could not get two benefits. We called the social security office in South Dakota and talk to Tyler and recorded his call. He stated to my daughter that she can collect both my benefits and her fathers death benefit. Not to worry. Time went by and my daughter got her dads death benefit and used it on trying to buy a car to get to work and get some furniture for our apartment because the man that we hired never got the kid to help us move our furniture so we had to leave our beds, kitchen table behind and so on. She also bought books for college. So just a few months ago we got a letter from social security stating that my daughter made this overpayment and they want her fathers death benefit money back, because you cant get two benefit payments at the same time. They should have said that when we Filed. Tyler stated the opposite when we questioned him. Those are the ones that should pay this back. That is not my daughters mistake! It is theirs and they need to take responsibility for it! Stop blaming innocent people.

Needed help finding out how to get info on a social security number for a family member. When I walked into the social security building I was immediately asked if I any weapons or explosives on me. Once I said no I was guided to a digital kiosk to sign in. Chairs were fastened together so I was too close to the guy next to me. I later got up and moved to another seat. The security guard was continually calling different people and telling them to turn off their TPM system, turn back on, and report back to him. This happened 7+ times in the 30 minutes until was waiting. Once my number was called I met a very helpful employee who was able to guide me I. The right direction. Overall better experience than I expected. But they could still put some polish on the whole experience.
