image If you are considering hiring C.F. Master Craft Construction, I DO NOT give a positive recommendation. Your job will not be completed timely and you will not get quality workmanship or attention to detail worthy of Master Craftsman.
The following is factual information.
Contract with CF dated February 15, 2022 in the amount of $24,400 (materials excluded) detailing 3 scopes of work. 1/3 was paid 3/2/2022. 1. Removal of floors (approx. 1,600 square feet) and replacement with porcelain tile with transition tile between rooms. 2. Removal and replacement of 2 sets of French doors (pricing of $500/door) 3. Install cabinets and water heater in laundry room.
Work did not commence until May and then stopped as I had a previous engagement the last week of May. Work did not start again until mid-July. Work was not completed until the beginning of September. The job was not started timely nor was it finished timely.
The transition tile was not installed properly and is chipping at the edges. I notified CF November 6, 2022 of the issue and never received a response. I had another professional come out to assess the situation and confirmed the tile was installed incorrectly. It is now going to cost me an additional $4,000 to correct the problem as CF refuses to respond to any issues addressed other than to deflect blame. CF will have you believe that it was my choice of tile. I ordered the tile February 15, 2022 in anticipation of work beginning soon. The tile selection was made known to CF, vetted by CF and installed by CF. It is a fact the tile was installed incorrectly as the edges will catch a boot heel which they should not.
CF installed a new Richmond water heater (made by Rheem) in my laundry room in May 2022. This water heater services my kitchen, half bath, laundry room and second master bath. There is a second water heater that services the two bathrooms on the other end of the house. This water heater functioned normally until August when CF had to remove it and reinstall it to complete the laundry room cabinets. After the reinstallation I started to notice variations in the hot water temperature. In October I started noticing air in the hot water lines that were serviced by this hot water heater - mainly in the kitchen. Note that this issue was isolated to the one side of the house serviced by this water heater. The issue became increasingly worse. In December 2022 I contacted CF and CF came out to release the air in the tank. I also called the utility provider (AUB) to ensure there were no leaks in my home and there were no breaks in any of the main lines which could have caused this problem. There were no issues. I finally called a certified plumber to drain the water heater as suggested by Rheem. It was determined that the bottom heating element was not working at all and upon removal of the element it is the strong opinion of the certified plumber that the water heater was dry fired meaning that the unit was powered up with no water in it. I have the element in my possession which clearly shows signs of dry firing. CF will have you believe this issue was caused by the City of Athens water supply AND/OR the replacement of my second water heater on December 8th by a certified plumber. I had the issues with the water heater installed by CF months before I replaced the second water heater. There were no issues with the second water heater before or after installation. I now have brand new water heater in my laundry room with a voided warranty due to the fact that is was dry fired. There is no other logical explanation.
There are numerous other issues that I have with this job that are going to cost me additional money to correct/fix. Services: Water heater installation, Tile work installation, Install flooring, Remodeling, Flooring

The floor tile: The tile installed was provided to us by the customer. When he selected, we explained that the tile wasn't rated for floors. He asked if it would be okay since it was such a small amountof tile. (As a transition between rooms) we agreed that he'd have to be careful as it was rated “0” for strength. As it was installed we specifically and multiple times reminded him that the heavy vacuum used in the home could damage the edges. The install is good, a straight edge was used to set it level with the adjacent tile.We contacted the tile setter he used to claim that our installationwas bad, and he reported that he didnot say the install was incorrect. Furthermore, he stated that he told the customer that it looked to bedamaged from being hit by something. The customer said that he wanted the mosaic tile 1/8” below the adjacent tile so that the vacuum wouldn’t hitit. Steve said that he could not make the tile look any better than it wasand he wasn’t comfortable doing the work after interactingwith him for a couple of days. He did not “fix” the tile. (And feels there is no pleasing this customer) Heprovided screenshots of text between him and the customer as evidence of this. To be honest, if Mr. Bamberger would have said that he wasn’t happy with the tile selection and wanted to replace it with something else, we would have replaced it so that he'd be happy. The Water Heater: the customer has 2 water heaters, hooked up in series. (Heater 1 is in line beforeheater 2)We replaced heater #2 and bled the air out of the system for3 hours before powering the heater. The heater (#2) performed perfectly the remainder of the time we were there. (5 months) With the customerexpressing to us how much better the hot water was after the install. In August, it wasn't drained, it was moved inches from outside a cabinet to inside. It was primed after this, to be safe, however it wasn't drained and air was never reintroduced to the system. When we were contacted about the heater (#2) issues, we explained that the only way to get air in the systemafter this amount of time is to have a break in the system, so we suggested asking AUB if there was a break in their supply line that could haveintroduced air. (i.e. flushing of the pipes or repairs / replacement oftheir lines) and we immediately went to his house to help assess the issue. (We were at his house within an hour of him contacting us.) While troubleshooting with the AUB rep on site and not finding any leaks, he was asked if he had any plumbing work done recently. That's when he said water heater #1 was replaced the week prior. When asked if they bled the second water heater afterwards, he said no. (They didn't know about the second heater) We then bled the air out of heater #2 and said that there could be damage from the amount of air in the heater. We contacted the company responsible for replacing the heating element in water heater #2. The customer claims this company stated that we dry fired the water heater when we installed it and not only ruined it, but voided the warranty. The owner of the company and plumber stated that A) they didn’t say we dry fired theheater, just that it was probably dryfired (meaning air reached theelements) B) Sometimes the elements are bad from the manufacturer, that it did NOT void the warranty. C) They installed water heater #1 and theywere unaware of water heater #2 so they didn’t prime the air out of waterheater #2.This customer works from home, he was there when the work was beingcompleted and frequently expressed his pleasure with the work being performed. Any changes or corrections he asked for were made as work progressed orimmediately upon completion. The customer paid the final payment when the work was completed. He asked us to wait until after his birthday to do the tile work, he was had several people in from out of town. We obliged. The doors he ordered were wrong and couldn't be installed.
