Dr. Trott and his assistants were very pleasant to work with; however, his office ladies that deal with billing are not. In December I was unknowingly out of network when I became a new patient. My x-rays and cleaning was never covered. I was never informed of this $300 amount. Come March, when I went in for two fillings. They proceeded to work on me with my prior balance still being owed. I was only made aware of anything when I was given a statement claiming I owed $300, as well as an additional $576 for the fillings. My fillings (as well as my whole treatment plan) were composite, resin-based fillings for posterior teeth. This is something that numerous insurances do not cover, since there is little reason to have cosmetically appealing teeth where they cannot be seen. My treatment plan (as well as billing statement) claimed that my out-of-network insurance would cover large portions of these posterior fillings. The ones responsible for creating this treatment plan aimed to provide a FALSE sense of coverage for something that is explicitly said not to be covered by my insurance, nor many others. IE: a $750 treatment plan with a $750 discount with my insurance was never the case. Had I blindly continued, I wouldve had to pay the ENTIRE $1500 cost without any help from the insurance I also pay for. Referring back to the earlier untold amount of the $300 I owe, had I known about this, I would have immediately been made aware that my insurance was not in-network. I would not have returned; rather, I would have found someone in my network. Now I owe hundreds of dollars due to a lack of communication and faulty business practice. Why would you allow someone to be operated on if they actively owe money with an out-of-network insurance that was obviously known to the office ladies, but not me? Why not simply inform the paying customer? I am a twenty year old that is new to dealing with insurance. I could have saved hundreds had I simply been informed of the conditions that were obvious to them and not me. When I spoke to the head of the office, she was unwilling to understand my frustration about never receiving my original, itemized bill. She did not understand my confusion as to why I was still permitted a procedure with an outstanding balance. The lady then tried telling me they didnt charge me for some kind of x-ray screening, which I think is odd. Why send it to my insurance as a charged service, but change it afterwards? Why be willing to work with me there for an untold reason about a random x-ray, but nothing else? From then on, she was only concerned about how and when I was going to pay my owed amount. She outright said they assumed I wanted their services despite my insurance being out of network. I am a 20 year old that did not receive proper dental care as a child. I want what my insurance grants. Thats why I pay for it. This same woman, the head of the office, told me on March 20th that I was the one responsible for choosing my insurance, implying I was the one making a bad decision. My insurance is actually standard. It was simply their lack of information and falsified insurance estimates that allowed me to fall into this hole. They lack honesty.

Just had my first visit with these lovely people and I've never felt more comfortable at a dentist's office. I have very, very bad anxiety at the dentist and Dr. Trott made sure to take his time and distract me from my anxiety with conversation and communication. The real MVP from that visit was Abby. She related to me on my anxiety and even held my hand the whole time Dr. Trott assessed my teeth. I hate I didn't get my hygienist's name, but she was super personable and honest with me on what to expect, as were the others. You can tell the staff really is a team and they truly do try to make your experience as comfortable as possible. They also play great music throughout the whole office, so that is a plus, too. I will add, they booked an appointment for me within less than a week of me calling. Overall, a great experience.
