Horrible. They won't even give me time to replace my oxygen concentrator before they pick theirs up. So I will have to do without oxygen because if their money issues. SHAMEFUL!

My Mom moved from assisted living in Houston to Memory Care in New Braunfels (NB). Brookdale Hospice in Houston was terrific. Brookdale hospice San Antonio makes alot of phone calls and is very focused on scheduling. Before my Mom got to NB they called & wanted schedule an exact time to see her on her move-in day which was Sunday. I explained I couldn't give an exact arrival time in NB since we had to drive to Houston, load the truck, then drive back up to NB. I told them it would be after 5:00 pm and I would call. The person who called said she would let her supervisor know this but that the supervisor would probably call me. The supervisor called and I reviewed my situation again. The next phone was from office staff. They told me the NP was only available until 7 pm so they needed to schedule a time to see my Mom before then. I re-explained the situation but this individual was put out. I explained I was an NP/RN and my Mom wasn't going to die overnight & they could see the next morning. On moving day we got to NB between 5:30 & 6 pm. Just as we starting to unload our U-Haul truck Brookdale SA called. My Mom wasn't even in her room yet and they wanted to come evaluate her and meet with me. I declined and advised them to come the next day, to which they replied they couldn't get here until after 5:00 pm. The next day I got a different hospice referral and these new folks saw my Mom at 2 pm that afternoon. When I called Brookdale to cancel their evaluation, I got VM & left a message that they were not needed. Next I received a VM stating that they just wanted to confirm my cancellation. Really, I just fired your company and you need to confirm this?

Bad Company do not let your love one be cared by this brookdale hospice. They are rude and they treated my mother as a number instead with compassion.

The hospice dept needs a lesson on comfort measures as well as dignity. I would not send your loved ones unless the purpose is to hasten their time as well as to create suffering. My patient ended up with brook dale because of family request. I had full support from the family when I moved her to another company after a week under their care. Oncologist/internist and prior hospice MD
