The Perch

Unbelievable view. Off grid, but modern-day conveniences. We did not like narrow tight stairs to upstairs bedroom or going outside to bathroom.

The Perch is one of a kind! The owner is very responsive and told me the story how he meticulously designed and built the off grid oasis over 2 years. Every detail was carefully thought out. I had the pleasure to stay there with some friends and we are already planning another trip later in the year. The fact that the entire property is self sustainable is amazing to me! You do have to be conscious of water and electric usage but staying here reminded me of how wasteful one can be in every day on the grid life. Plenty of water and electricity for our week stay. Great location! Very close to the entrance of Big Bend. Restaurants and bars are less than 10 minute drive, yet sometimes you get the feeling you are hundreds of miles from anyone or anything. My favorite part of the trip was sitting in the massive porch watching the sunset/rise. It was so relaxing. I cant wait to go back in the Fall. If you are ever in the Big Bend area, a stay at The Perch should definitely be at the top of your to do list.
